Veteran to the Red Museum stage and headlining Red Ex Vol. 666 is Tré Burt, the folk artist turned object of John Prine affection, turned Nashville resident, turned bandlander, turned Wilco opener, turned musical globetrotter. The Red Museum couldn’t be prouder of Tré’s progression toward the stardom. His second proper album, Traffic Fiction, is due on October 6th of this year on Oh! Boy Records.

Returning to the Red Ex stage for the third time is DEFEM, a four piece from Sacramento, comprised of members of local heroes G. Green and Screature, both projects appeared early on in the history of the Red Museum. Originally conceived as a weekly free-form jam session/friend hangout meant to introduce new styles, techniques, and instruments to its four members.

Garage rock thunderbolts and scene heavyweights The Snares are also back after an energetic set at Red Ex Vol V. Continuing the long tradition of excellent Sacramento garage rock, Izzie Gomez and company independently released their official debut album Walls That Sweat earlier this year.

Dogs Barking is the noisy, frenetic post-hardcore project of Andy Richardson, with help from the some of the hardest working musicians in Sacramento: drummer Taylor Kohl and bassist Zach Bissell. Matt Maxwell plays guitar as well. After relocating to Sacramento, Dogs Barking have developed into a must-see local favorite for their raucous and mob inducing sets. Their excellent self-titled album is full of infectious tracks and will be released on Research Chemical Records on September 29th, the day before Red Ex Vol. 666.

SUNMONKS, the art pop project of Alexandra Steele and Geoffrey Knecht, triumphantly return to Sacramento after expatriating to Los Angeles some time ago. Apart from making fun, vibrant music, Sun Monks also maintain a busy life outside of the studio: Alex contributed to the animation of A24 distributed film Marcel the Shell with Shoes On, while Geoffrey is an engineer, producer, multi-instrumentalist and a regular contributor to Tape Op magazine. SUNMONKS continue to regularly release music through their Bandcamp.

Helladusty is the bedroom pop project of Livan Becerra and his recent EP Through the Screen demonstrates an exciting leap forward in sound, incorporating drum breaks, catchy hooks, and refined production. This constitutes Helladusty’s first performance at Red Museum and we couldn’t be more excited to host them.

New wave with an alt-rock twist is the best way to describe Blonde Star Wig, a quartet led by primary songwriter Jake Gates with production and keyboard assistance by local luminary Styles Munson. The four piece is supported by one of the best local rhythm sections in the 916, drummer Hank McKay and bassist Malcolm King, who tightly propel these energized songs forward. BSW is currently in the midst of recording their debut album.

Riley Echo is the electronic R&B project of Gabrielle Alexander, an exciting new entry to the Sacramento music scene. Synthesizing a diversity of influences including Bjork, Radiohead, and more, Riley’s music is sweet, soft, soulful, superb.

Daniel Trudeau is Pregnant, the multi-faceted, long-time experimental stalwart of the Sacramento music scene. Achieving a full circle journey, Daniel performed at the first ever Red Museum show at the beginning of 2016, and we’re eager to welcome them back in a different configuration.
